Twinning on Bachelor In Paradise {& my take on Emily and Haley Ferguson}

Happy Bachelor in Paradise Monday! Anyone else super annoyed that BIP is going to be on both Mondays and Tuesdays? I do not have time to watch it three hours a week! And that is saying something coming from me! What I do have time for is a very short blog post in regards to Haley and Emily Ferguson, the blonde twins that have taken Mexico by storm. These twins are wonderful, hilarious, down-to-earth AND two entirely different human beings! There I said it, and it wasn't that hard!

I am actually offended by how ABC and Bachelor in Paradise have been treating these two. Do they have no respect whatsoever for twins? Maybe I am just sensitive because I am an identical twin and I couldn't imagine constantly being compared to Allie. But that is because we, like Emily and Haley, are two separate people with different likes and dislikes. Honestly, Allie and I aren't even attracted to the same guys and I doubt Haley and Emily are either! I am waiting patiently for the day ABC starts treating these two with more respect. It would be nice to see them called by their actual names and, like the other contestants on the show, given their actual profession under their name. Last time I checked being an Identical Twin is not a job, although wouldn't that be magical!?

I was pissed off the first few seconds of this season when I saw that everyone got their own introduction but Haley and Emily were announced as "The Twins." Then I turned livid when Emily was talking and her title said "Haley or Emily." But don't even get me started when I found out they would count as one person at rose ceremonies! What? That is absolutely insane. Let me explain for those of you who don't watch: each week, the men or the women will be granted a rose to give to someone else on the island providing them safety for another week in paradise. Much like the Bachelor or Bachelorette, if you receive a rose, you are safe. If you do not, you go home. But, lucky for this set of twins, if one of them receives a rose then they are both safe.

Wait, say what? They are not conjoined twins! I understand that this is reality TV but how is it fair that they both get to stay simply because ONE guy likes ONE of them? If someone wasn't attracted to me but they liked Allie, I would feel horrible sticking around. I wouldn't want to stay and I couldn't help but associate the rose as a pity rose. No one wanted me! So, like everyone else who doesn't get a rose, send me home. At least, that's my views on it. They pulled this crap with Ashley I. and her sister Lauren last season, too. But it wasn't that big of a deal because Lauren willingly left a couple episodes in. I just think it is extremely unfair that both stay or both go.

But, it's not even the rose ceremonies that make me mad. It's the fact that it almost seems like ABC has no desire to know who is who or get to know Emily or Haley on a personal individual level. And who wouldn't want to do that? Seriously these two seem like awesome girls. I know I want to be their friend! Plus, I am a viewer and I can tell the two apart! There is no way the producers don't know who is who. They have different face structures and completely different personalities. Emily is super talkative and sarcastic. Haley is quieter and does not drink (like actually watch scenes, she never has a margarita in hand). Not to mention, viewers got to know Emily pretty well seeing as Ben Higgins sent home Haley three weeks earlier. That means we all got three weeks to get to know Emily as her own person.

Haley and Emily have told the Bachelor in Paradise franchise how to tell them apart, so listen up! They claim they have different noses, eyes, lips, face shapes, teeth, toes, hands... etc. And it's true! "Seriously everything about us is different," Emily said. Look at them side by side and it's not hard to tell them apart. Plus, their voices are a little different (something Allie and I aren't lucky enough to be blessed with. No one can tell us apart on the phone!) Growing up as an identical twin, you try your hardest not to get offended when someone calls you by the wrong name. Heck, my grandma still hasn't figured Allie and I out (I'm serious). Yet, everyone has their bad days and I'll be the first to admit I get extremely annoyed when someone doesn't even make the effort to get to know us separately.

I know if I were ever to go on The Bachelor, I 1. would not want Allie to go with me (because she would definitely win over me) and 2. if she did come, I would want to be treated the same as everyone else. Emily and Haley are human beings just like everyone else on the show. They have their own personalities and fun quirks. My twin sister Allie is hands down the funniest person I know. She is beautiful on the inside and the outside and has the biggest go-getter attitude that I know. She is something special. Just like I know Emily and Haley are independently special. I just wish ABC would see this and treat them how they deserve to be treated. There. Rant over.

What did you think of this week's episode of Bachelor in Paradise? Will you be watching tomorrow? And are you excited about Chad leaving? Read my thoughts on the Chad Bear here! Lastly, what are your thoughts on this twin debacle? Am I being too sensitive?
