Goddess And The Baker
You guys, I have died and gone to literal heaven. Goddess And The Baker, located in Chicago, is lifechanging! I am considering moving simply so I can eat there everyday. All jokes aside, Allie and I had a sister weekend trip and tried this adorable coffee shop along the way. I always use my Yelp app to find the highest rated locations and to see which places are offering deals. Goddess And The Baker gives you a free hot coffee when you check your location in on the app! Freebies? Yes, please!
Allie and I had spent the entire day at the Shedd Aquarium and were in desperate need of coffee. Our midday slump was cured not even a mile and a half away from the aquarium. Goddess and the Baker was tucked away on Wabash Ave, which allowed us to view the scenery of Chicago as we walked. It took me ten minutes just to order when we arrived because their menu offered so much. I had no idea what I was in the mood for! Salads, sandwiches, soups? I wanted it all!
Goddess and The Baker provides breakfast, lunch, dinner and desserts all day and the items are promised to be fresh and fast! Plus, their coffee was delicious and served hot, just how I like it. Unfortunately, I only tried their drip coffee since that's what was free. However, they offer a rotating selection of beans from all across the country, even the globe! I'll never forget the first time I tried Costa Rican coffee in Costa Rica. Trying it at Goddess and The Baker is a must for next time.
Also, a must: divulging into one of their many pastries and sweets! Serving desserts all day is dangerous. Do you know how hard it was to walk away from that layered rainbow cake? It took every ounce of willpower to do so. They offer cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies and even creamy gelato. I did not satisfy my sweet tooth (this time) because I was there for lunch. But let me brag about the salad I got!
Goddess and The Baker offered a variety of six different salads on their menu. I sank my teeth in The Baker's Chopped, and will never regret this decision. The salad came with romaine lettuce, avocado, tomato, garbanzo beans, cucumber, corn, carrots, red peppers, sunflower seeds and a 6 minute egg. Is your mouth watering yet? It also was topped with blue cheese but I asked for it without, and got the Goddess dressing on the side.
I would be lying if I said I have had a better salad. This, hands down, was the best salad I have EVER eaten. The egg was cooked to perfection and the veggies and lettuce were fresh. Mixed with the salad dressing, this salad was a burst of flavor that is simply indescribable. In addition, the salad portion was plentiful and kept me full for the rest of the day. Most salads leave me feeling hungry, especially those without chicken or some sort of protein, but this salad with the egg held me over for longer than I had anticipated and gave me the energy I needed to power through my day.
And I simply cannot end this blogpost without talking about the interiors of this coffeeshop beauty. Right when you walk in the door, you are not only met with the sweet smells of a bakery but also a sensory overload. In the back of the shop, there is a huge sign that says EAT NOW caffeinate. It screams Tumblr/Pinterest perfect and I just had to take a picture! Then, like mentioned, the desserts are so pretty, they beg to be eaten! Lastly, Goddess and The Baker gives off a feeling that makes you forget you are in Chicago. For the hustle and bustle of the city, Goddess and The Baker offers a calming environment that makes you want to slow down and enjoy the day.
If I were a student in Chicago, you better believe this would be my study spot!
