Cake Bake Shop

We all know it's October and nothing screams Fall more than cooler weather, changing leaves and the Cake Bake Shop! When I lived in Indianapolis, I was fortunate enough to treat my taste buds to these magnificant cakes and treats on special occasions.

The first time I tried this adorable Paris-like cafe was because of my friends at @ButlerFoodFan, a local eatery Instagram account run by three Butler students. I received a $15 gift card and treated Allie and I on her next visit. I will warn you, $15 will not cover the cost of two people, but these pricey desserts are worth every single penny.

What's so unique about The Cake Bake Shop is their gourmet plentiful portions. The cake slices are not only huge but absolutely stunning! Not to mention, the fruit tarts are colorful and mouthwatering and the cookies are literally to die for. And, don't even get me started on the pies! Oh my yum! All these fanciful desserts are sprinkled with edible glitter giving each bite a special sparkle and shine.

There is not one item on the menu that I have ordered and regretted, and I have tried a lot of them! Whether you need a cheat day on your diet, to celebrate with girlfriends or simply divulge in a sweet treat, the Cake Bake Shop will leave you feeling satisfied and on a sugar high.

I hadn't heard about this beautiful shop until my junior or senior year of college, which leads me to believe it is relatively new. I do know the owner, Gwendolyn Rogers, put so much work into making this shop breathtakingly beautiful. The interiors, the outdoor porch and the cake and pie cases will distract you as you wait in a long line. Believe me, this place is always packed! But the moment you sink your teeth into a lemon bar, all will be forgiven.

As you walk up the sidewalk into the entrance of the all-white 40s cottage turned bakery, you will be welcomed with the sound of chatter, champagne glasses clinking, and the fresh aroma of baked goods. Passing through the french doors, you have the option to be seated either outdoors or inside the shop. I encourage you all to try and snag seating in this cozy cafe, where you will be surrounded by chandeliers, pillows and mirrors.

The Cake Bake Shop isn't only for your tastebuds, the whole experience is a sensory overload! From the visually pleasing decor to the chocolatey aroma of cakes to the actual moment your mouth waters when biting into their famous Chocolate Coffee Cream Pie, every second is worth it.

Not a dessert person? That's OK! The Cake Bake Shop also serves coffees, teas, wines, lunch items and more! And they are all guarenteed to be fresh! What I miss and perhaps loved the most about Indianapolis was how farm-friendly and local the majority of these restaurants were. The Cake Bake Shop is no exception. The menu items are baked fresh with farm-fresh eggs and organic milks, according to their website. Plus, these desserts are made from scratch each and every day with fresh ingredients.

If you aren't convinced that the Cake Bake Shop is the best thing created for mankind, you will just have to try it for yourself. Next time you are in the Indianapolis area, splurge a little and treat yourself to a speciality dessert at the Cake Bake Shop! And, for those of us who can't make a trip to Indiana anytime soon, jump over to their website and see these famous cakes for yourself! You won't regret it.
