Long's Donuts

When a donut shop makes the national list for all-time best donuts, you know you have struck gold. Long's, an Indianapolis bakery known to many, is just that: Great Old-Fashioned Local Donuts.

The 61-year-old bakery was started by Carl Long and the business has since stayed in the family. Most days this popular stop opens at 5:30 am and doesn't close until 10 pm, giving newer customers the opportunity to map out the perfect time to snag their famous yeast donuts. Don't be surprised to find nearby parking nonexistent and a line wrapping outside the store all the way down Tremont St., especially on Saturdays and Sundays. But I guarantee you, they are worth the wait!

Not only are their donuts out of this world, but they also bake cakes, cookies and other pastries and dessert favorites. The best part: they are made from scratch daily. According to an employee, someone is always in early in the morning to start baking and they continue their artwork throughout the day. You can taste the freshness with each bite!

Speaking of employees, some of the kindest people you will find in Indianapolis are there to serve you. They are always willing to help you by suggesting different flavors and recommending their most popular items, especially their blueberry cake donuts! Plus, they are extremely patient while you make your decision, because let me tell you it's hard!

This bakery is cash-only so make sure you bring plenty! While the donuts are extremely inexpensive, you won't want to leave empty handed! The best way to visit Long's Bakery? Leaving with at least a dozen! Make sure to pick up some for coworkers, friends and family members. They won't be able to thank you enough.
